Even though I had been writing steadily throughout my life, my writing career didn’t kick in until I was in my forties. I started writing Star Trek fan fiction when I was a teenager. I loved the adventure and the personalities. My goal was to be a published author someday. In college, I became involved with role-playing games and my fiction veered towards Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, and Dungeons and Dragons. But I had grown up reading Harlequin romances and my dream was to one day become a Harlequin author. Little did I know, then, that it would take me until I was fifty years old to fulfill that dream. I got an agent after over 200 query letters back in 2010. I quickly got a contract with Random House for their Loveswept line and my first book Heat made the USA Today Bestseller list. Sadly, the Loveswept line was discontinued, but I got my rights back to the Club Inferno Trilogy and self-published them. It took ten years after I got my agent to get a contract with Harlequin. My first Harlequin was Wild Wedding Hookup for their Dare line. Unfortunately, the Dare line has also been discontinued, but I hope to have another Harlequin deal someday. Luckily, I found my passion for writing steamy cowboy romances with Tule publishing. The first book in the series, The Cowboy’s Daughter hit the USA Today Bestseller list this year, and the series has grown to four books with another four on the way!
I’ve got a question for you. Do you like your cowboy heroes to be alpha men (arrogant and tough through and through with only the leading lady who can tame them) or cinnamon rolls (hard on the outside, soft on the inside, showing that side only to the leading lady)?
