In One Picture: Michal Scott’s “The Patience of Unanswered Prayer” (Contest)

The Patience of Unanswered Prayer by Michal Scott
Kidnapped and destined to be another victim of Reconstruction-era violence, a feisty shop owner is rescued by a trail boss whose dark secret might save them both
Inspiration for story, little about me, where to find me: I imagined an African-American cowboy home from the trail with a wolf by his side, both of them sensing trouble has come to their spread. I imagined how that trouble could involve my heroine, and thus, the story was born. I’m a romance-writing retired minister who loves Black history. Snippet from “The Patience of Unanswered Prayer”…
So this was how one got to heaven, in the arms of a beautiful Black angel. Eleanor had made a game of memorizing images of blackness from the Bible. A description from the Book of Revelation surged to the fore.
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire.
This had to be heaven. Where else but heaven would she find a fine Black angel with hair like wool—not white, but black with threads of gray—and with wonderfully hairy arms to escort her into the next life?
No. This had to be heaven. She’d never experienced this kind of ecstasy burning between her thighs on earth.

This story features a lovely relationship between a shifter and an actual wolf pack, who all come together to rescue the heroine. This one’s set post-Civil War in the West.
Does the timeframe of a shifter story matter to you?

I like all timeframes. It keeps the reading fresh.
I enjoy books from all different eras…
The time-frame can add another element to the story. I like that.
Time frame doesn’t matter to me at all; it’s the story that counts.
I don’t have a particular preferred time frame, and love reading how creatively authors can use that element as part of their storytelling!
I like a varied time frame since I like historical, contemporary, futuristic and paranormals!
Thanks for your answers, ladies!
