Getting to Know N.J. Walters (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is…Mary Dellenbusch!
*~*~*

Hi! I’m N.J. Walters, and I’m thrilled to be in the Secret Identities: A Boys Behaving Badly Anthology. This is not my first time in one of these amazing collections. I was also in Stranded: A Boys Behaving Badly Anthology, Blue Collar: A Boys Behaving Badly Anthology, First Response: A Boys Behaving Badly Anthology, and Silver Soldiers: A Boys Behaving Badly Anthology.

I love being a part of a collection with other authors. What’s extra special is that these are contemporary romance stories, a departure from my usual paranormal romance books.

I started out writing erotic contemporary romance twenty years ago. After a couple of years, I began writing paranormal romance, and that’s primarily what I’ve written for the past fifteen years, along with some sci-fi/futuristic romance. But I’ve never lost my love for contemporary romance. These anthologies allow me to indulge my love of them and stretch myself as a writer. Crafting a shorter piece like “Perfect Stranger,” my story for the Secret Identities Anthology, is a very different process from writing an 80K book.

As I said, I’ve spent almost two decades writing paranormal series. I have several werewolf series—Legacy series, Salvation Pack, Salvation Pack: The Next Generation. I’ve dabbled in the realm of magic and more. I’ve written series where every shifter/creature is different. My first was the Hades’ Carnival series. The second was The Forgotten Brotherhood, a group of paranormal assassins.

Lately, I’ve gone back to werewolves in my Lone Wolf Legacy trilogy. Who are the lone wolves? Since the rise of the werewolf, there has always existed a single lone wolf—with pure white, gray, or black fur and eyes that match—who answers to no alpha, belongs to no pack. Merciless and deadly, he wanders the world, both judge and executioner of rogue wolves who senselessly kill, endangering all their kind.

When one dies, another takes its place, awakening to his purpose the first time he shifts to his wolf form. Known by the sign of the lone wolf—a sickle over the heart—the short-handled, circular blade remains as a tattoo on the man and as a mark on the wolf. A lethal combination of intelligence, brutal strength, and keen instinct, he walks a lonely path, shunned by pack, always alone.

For the first time, there are three in the world—white, gray, and black—who all bear the mark on their chests. No one knows why, least of all them…

Read Taming the White Wolf and Protecting the Gray Wolf, the first two in the series now. Tempting the Black Wolf, the final book in the trilogy, is coming soon.

  1. My favorite types of paranormal are ones with vampires and shifters in them.

    1. Thank you NJ for this chance. I’ve read all your paranormal books and love them!! I’ve tried to read the others like contemporary and historical but..it just didn’t do it for me. I would say I love everything paranormal. However, my favorite shifter is the leopard. I’ve always been partial to the big cats and I’m a cat lover myself. Can’t wait to read more of your PNR!!!

  2. Lately I have been enjoying necromancer or demon stories. I need a change one in a while

  3. I like paranormal books that have a whole variety of paranormal creatures. I always get excited when an author gives me something new or unusual like a story that mixes various shifters with the Fae.

  4. I enjoy pretty much all of them–it’s fun to see how different authors create worlds to support their shifters, ghosts, vampires, fae, or whatever creatures strike their fancies.
