Red Velvet and Absinthe: Paranormal Erotic Romance might seem like a rather unusual choice of theme to appear right on the heels of the recently released Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Lusts, my raunchy retake on the Jane Austen classic, but I say hey, why not? I prefer to do different kinds of projects rather than getting stuck in a groove. So to go from sexual madness and mayhem in Meryton, Netherfield, Pemberley and Hunsford Parish to sexy Gothic thrills and chills with all sorts of supernatural beings seems perfectly natural!
Gothic fiction is a genre I’ve always loved ever since childhood. I used to consume Gothic novels like some people consume popcorn at the cinema – I just couldn’t get enough. For several years I’ve wanted to do a book that would draw on this rich literary tradition – a book that would offer readers that goose-bumpy sense of excitement, but combine it with the erotic. With the popularity of films and television series such as “Twilight” and “The Vampire Diaries,” the timing seemed perfect for Red Velvet and Absinthe.
Editing an anthology is hard work. For me it isn’t simply a matter of pulling a few stories out of a stack and choosing a running order. I had a very specific vision for how I wanted this book to be, and I wasn’t about to waver from it. In fact, I was probably a very demanding taskmaster, but I believe that everyone’s hard work paid off in the end with the quality of material in the book. The stories run the full range of the paranormal, offering something for pretty much everyone who enjoys a good sexy read with a bit of Gothic bite.
As for what I’m planning to do next, I’ll leave you to guess on that!

Mitzi! Thanks so much for being here today! And good luck with Red Velvet!
Thanks so much for having me!
I’m still blown away by that Red Velvet and Absinthe cover. The image is so striking, the way it’s sort of washed out but with the pops of red and black.
Can’t wait to get my author copy! I’m itching for it. LOL
Hugs,
Giselle
I’ve never thought of erotic stories with a gothic flare…quite interesting! Maybe I’ll try and get my hands on one. I’m a really huge fan of Vampire Diaries and judging from that line, your work must have like a unique blend of thrill and mystery, along with the heat or eroticism. And your book covers rocks!
I’ve got P&P Hidden Lusts on my bookshelf right now! I’ve read the first three chapters. Who’d have ever guessed Mr. Bennett was so bad? 🙂
P & P Hidden Lusts was amazing! The way you stayed true to the original premise and yet spiced it up totally blew me away! Red Velvet and Absinthe looks to be just as thrilling! Can’t wait to check it out!!
Your anthology sounds fabulous! I wish you rave reviews and many sales. I have to check this out!
Best–Adele
