“That sex was the most fun I’ve ever had without laughing.”

This movie quote came from the film Annie Hall. The character who said it was right—sex is fun, which is why I sometimes like my story heroines to laugh when they’re in a flirty mood. Sex doesn’t have to be so serious all the time, does it?

I feel that way about vampires and shape-shifters too. They don’t have to be dark and scary every minute. Shape-shifters in their human forms are women just like us. They have angst. They have highs and lows. And sometimes they’re downright funny without meaning to be. That’s  why I wrote my steamy short stories “The Crystal Altar” for Girls Who Bite and “She’s Furry Yiffy” for She-Shifters with a bit of tongue-in-cheek.

As a straight woman, married and monogamous for a quarter century, writing paranormal stories about night creatures and duel heroines challenged my creativity in exciting new ways. Vampire and shape-shifter characters also offered greater opportunities for unique settings. In “The Crystal Altar” I sent my heroines to a vampire birthday party inside a crystalline cave, millennia old. “She’s Furry Yiffy” is set in an X-rated Furries and Plushies convention. What better place for a lonely shape-shifter to mingle and hook-up?

Girls Who Bite and She-Shifters turned into the most fun I’ve ever had writing sexy fiction. I’m pleased and proud to be part of these groundbreaking anthologies. I hope you’ll visit me on my website at www.adeledubois.com or my blog at http://adeledubois.wordpress.com and check out my list of books. I’m also on Facebook and Twitter and would enjoy seeing you there.

As my character Maya says in She’s Furry Yiffy, “I’ve been waiting for you to find me.”

  1. I love the way you write. I’m a huge paranormal fan and just adore to write it as well. There is something magical and special with the whole world. Your character in She’s Furry Yiffy is very hot.

  3. I love the idea of these books, like you Adele, I am a straight married women with children but I still like the idea of these 2 books, I will put them on my TBR list, like abit of spice in my books, Thankyou for bringing them to my attention x x

    1. Hi Julie! Thanks for visiting and posting. The F/F subgenre seems to be the last frontier of exploration in mainstream erotic romance. I’m happy to be part of this exciting anthology.

  4. I totally agree with you. Being another paranormal and shape-shifter author I concur sex is fun with a capital S. Why so many authors take the fun out of it I have yet to figure out. Oh don’t get me wrong, I love the serious moments too, but a slip of the tongue, something that causes a “crackup,” is a serious situation is so intriguing.

    1. Hi Virginia! You’re a reader after my own heart. Thanks for joining in the fun! I hope you enjoy SHE-SHIFTERS!

  5. I love the these books and will have to add them to my very long list of TBR. I also love the F/F since I’m a lesbian it gets me going. Even though I have read straight erotica it’s not always my first choice but if i love the way the writer does it I will read it just the same trying to learn what the reader out there like. I’m new to the writing field and have lots of ideas. So looking forward to reading more of your work. Being able to do thing that is not considered of this world is my most favorite thing to think about. It opens up so many possibilities of where a story can go and what you can do to it.

    1. Hi Deb! I hope you’ll move our anthologies to the top of your TBR list. They’re exactly your cup of tea!

Thanks for stopping by to visit and post. Nice to meet you!

      Best–Adele
